Owensboro Health Summer Nurse Extern Program

2026 Program Dates: May 18 - September 12

Eligibility: Minimum one semester of an accredited Nursing Program completed and continuous enrollment in an accredited Nursing Program

Different opportunities available dependent upon student level (I, II, III)

• Level I - Float pool, opportunity to round on all participating units
• Level II - Unit grouping float pool, opportunity to round on 4 group units based on student interest
• Level III - Opportunity to work on one unit of interest throughout the duration of the summer

Three participating Owensboro Health Hospitals:

• Owensboro Health Regional Hospital - Owensboro, KY
• Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital - Greenville, KY
• Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center - Leitchfield, KY

Paid Externship - Rate determined by verified Nurse Extern level
